ADMISSIONS UPDATE - AUTUMN 2007
We look forward to welcoming again the most academically prepared freshman class ever to attend The Ohio State University. Thank you for your efforts in making this possible. Please note the following important updates and changes for 2008:
New priority deadline dates:
- December 3, 2007 is a key date. Students wishing to be considered for the full range of available scholarships, including the Maximus Competition, must submit admissions application materials by this date.
- The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) deadline for new Columbus campus freshmen for autumn 2008 is February 15, 2008 (previously March 1). The deadline for regional campuses (including ATI) is March 3, 2008.
- February 1 remains the final admissions application deadline date for new first quarter freshmen to be considered for admission for autumn 2008.
New ACT/SAT prerequisite scores for Scholars and Honors Programs:
- Students who qualify for our Scholars Programs typically are in the top 20% of their high school class with an ACT composite score of 27-29 ACT or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1220-1330.
- Students who qualify for our Honors Program typically are in the top 10% of their high school class with an ACT composite score of 30 or combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1340.
Scholarship changes for autumn 2008:
- The criteria and award amounts for merit scholarships for new in and out-of-state freshmen have changed for 2008. Please see meritawards.osu.edu for specific details.
- Since many scholarship changes have been made, please discard all publications from previous years.
About test scores:
- Students must submit (at least) one ACT or SAT score set with a writing exam (ACT testers must take the optional writing test) to be considered for admission. However, writing scores will not be used this year for admissions consideration; they will be used for research purposes to determine how much weight writing scores will have on future admissions decisions.
Profile of the 2007 admitted freshman class:
- 91 percent of these freshmen come from the top 25 percent of their graduating class
- 57 percent of these freshmen come from the top 10 percent of their graduating class
- ACT score range, middle 50 percent: 25-30 (national average=21)
- SAT score range (Critical Reading and Math only), middle 50 percent: 1150-1330 (national average=1021)
