Football Ticket Process Changes for 2008
The Alumni Association, working in conjunction with the Athletics Ticket Office, has made significant changes to its football ticket application process for the 2008 season and beyond. Eligible Association members were notified of the changes in a ticket information packet mailed in late April. Following is a summary of some of the new procedures. For answers to questions about these process changes, please check our FAQs.
TICKET LOTTERY
Active dues-paying members of the Association who apply for tickets by May 31, 2008, will be entered into a random lottery to determine who will be selected to receive tickets and for which games. The Athletics Ticket Office previously used an alphabetic system to predetermine which games members could apply for.
In the past, the Athletics Ticket Office gave priority to those Association members who had applied for tickets in consecutive years. Going forward, no priority will be given to any members of the Association. All active dues-paying members as of Mar. 1, 2008, will have the opportunity to participate in the lottery and will have an equal chance to win tickets. Donor history will play no role in determining priority.
The Athletics Ticket Office is no longer "householding" the opportunity to apply for tickets. Previously, if two single members of the Association lived in one household, they received only one application. Now, such households will receive two applications, one for each member. However, joint members, who share one membership, will receive one application.
Tickets for the Ohio State-Michigan game will be included in the random lottery with all other available tickets.
By applying for tickets, members are making a commitment to accept the game they are awarded. There will be no refunds or exchanges.
APPLYING AND PAYING FOR TICKETS
The Alumni Association encourages all members to apply for the lottery online at www.ohiostate buckeyes.com. Beginning in 2009, paper applications will not be accepted and all Association members will be required to apply online at http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/. Click on TICKETS in the upper right corner.
Credit cards of those members who are successful in the lottery will not be billed until the lottery is completed. Likewise, checks made out to the Athletics Ticket Office for the $130 fee will not be cashed until the lottery is completed. (Please note that paying by check is discouraged.)
Checks that include the ticket fee and a donation to the Association will be cashed after the lottery, whether or not the member was successful in winning tickets. In such cases, the Athletics Ticket Office will issue the member a refund check for the $130 fee.
NOTIFICATION
The best way to ensure prompt notification of lottery results is to apply online at http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/. (Click on TICKETS in the upper right corner.) Those who do so will be notified by e-mail immediately after their lottery status has been determined. All members will be notified by mail in July. The Athletics Ticket Office will mail the tickets two to three weeks before the game.
