GIRLS' NIGHT OUT GETS RAVE REVIEW
"It was a lovely evening," said an attendee at a recent Girls' Night Out event. "It was very refreshing that Gene Smith, Archie Griffin, and the alumni staff were so available and cordial to everyone attending. Katie was an enjoyable added attraction as well. Thank you for the experience."
Girls' Night Out events are designed to bring alumnae together for programming centered around athletics. Katie Smith, Gene Smith, and Archie Griffin participated in the first event held Jan. 9, 2006. More than 150 women attended a reception and brief program before cheering the women's basketball team to victory over Oklahoma.
The response to the second Girls' Night Out event featuring Coach Jim Tressel was amazing. Even after moving to a larger venue, the event was sold out within hours. More than 300 women came to hear Coach Tressel talk about the fundamentals of football and life as a coach.
ESPN analyst and Ohio State alumnus Kirk Herbstreit was the star attraction at the third Girls' Night Out held in August 2006. Kirk shared insights and took questions from the crowd. The evening ended with a style show from Buckeye Corner.
There are few Buckeye football stars who shine brighter than Heisman Trophy winner Eddie George. In August 2007 Eddie headlined the fourth Girls' Night Out. His remarks focused on his personal experiences as a college and professional player.
