WELCOME HOME, BUCKEYES!
First recognized in 1912, Homecoming began as “Ohio State Day.” It was initiated by Professor George W. Rightmire, who later served as Ohio State president. Homecoming was designed to bring alumni back to the university and celebrate alma mater with other alumni and current students.
The parade is a Homecoming tradition Buckeyes hold in high esteem. The parade, with the Buckeye Pep Rally afterwards on the Oval, did not become a time-honored tradition until it joined the schedule permanently in 1965.
Court members are chosen based on their leadership qualities, spirit, integrity, and achievement through their contributions and involvement at Ohio State.
